Kahuna Massage.
Kahuna stimulates the flow of energy within the body, supporting its own inherent ability to heal itself and restore balance to the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of the individual. Every stroke aims to wake the body's natural wisdom.
A practice centuries old.
Secret knowledge
In the language of native Hawaiians, "huna" refers to a body of sacred teachings, the inner wisdom passed down through generations of healers.
Master practitioner
A Kahuna is a master practitioner of the huna arts. The massage tradition is also known as "lomilomi", and forms part of an integrated healing practice.
Presence & care
The aloha spirit is at the heart of Kahuna. The therapist works with focused, loving attention, treating each body as sacred.
Mind. Body. Soul.
Unlike massage that adjusts the body to rectify an ailment, Kahuna works on all three as one integrated whole, shifting the energy that flows within the body to release unwanted patterns of behaviour, beliefs and emotion.
The long flowing strokes lull the busy thinking mind, creating space for clarity and quietude where there was only static.
Forearms and rhythmical strokes release deeper tissue layers, improve circulation and remind the body of how to soften.
Stored emotions and old patterns surface and release, leaving you reconnected to yourself in a way that's hard to put into words.
The flow of a session.
A Kahuna session unfolds rather than progresses. Each phase melts into the next, creating one continuous experience from arrival to integration.
Welcome & intention
A brief moment to land. Lorena listens to what brought you in, what you're carrying, and what you'd like to leave behind. Nothing rushed.
Sheet-free preparation
Privacy to undress to your comfort level. Kahuna is performed on a sheet-free table so the practitioner's hands can glide under the body with ease, you're always appropriately wrapped throughout.
The flowing strokes
Warmed body oil applied. Then the rhythmical strokes begin, hands gliding freely from head to toe in long uninterrupted lines. You'll drift inward as your body reconnects with itself.
Rest & integration
A few minutes of stillness at the end to let the work settle into your system. You'll leave grounded, slower, and softer than when you arrived.
Always wrapped, always private.
Sheet-free can sound unfamiliar, but it's never exposing. Lorena always keeps you appropriately wrapped throughout the session, and you can leave undergarments on if that's more comfortable. Your boundaries set the tone.
